Sample Itinerary - Culinary Journey to Tuscany

I love Tuscany! I'm so happy when I arrive in Florence—it's such a special place. Our villa and home for the week is just outside of Florence in the heart of the Chianti region in Strada in Chianti, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. We'll cook classical Tuscan meals including Risotto with Chianti wine and Bruschetta al Pomodoro in both the professional kitchen and in the villa's original kitchen featuring an open wood-fired hearth. We'll tour the local markets, taste the local Pecorino cheese, and eat at my absolute favorite pizzeria! And don't forget the shopping!

This itinerary gives an overview of a typical weeklong course in Tuscany. Please note that itineraries are subject to change at anytime.

Day One

Our bus and my Tuscan assistant meet everyone at the train station in Florence in the late afternoon and transfer to the villa. Arrive at the villa to a grand welcome and sumptuous dinner prepared by Joanne and her assistants.

Day Two

First hands-on cooking class with Joanne at the villa, followed by al fresco lunch. Free time to tour the villa and relax by the pool. Afternoon cooking class followed by dinner at the villa.

Day Three

All day excursion throughout the Chianti region. Tour and tasting at wineries in Chianti. Lunch at an estate famous its olive oil and wine. Return to villa for third cooking class with dinner.

Day Four

Morning trip to the market in the village to shop for ingredients. Lunch at a popular local trattoria and a gelato on the way home. Afternoon cooking class followed by dinner at the villa.

Day Five

Walk to the village to tour the local pasta factory followed by a special lunch using the freshly extruded pasta. Visit the artisan goldsmith and his studio on our return passeggiata back to the villa. Afternoon cooking class and followed by dinner at the villa.

Day Six

All-day excursion throughout the area. We'll visit Joanne's friends' famous ceramics studio in Chianti, followed by picnic lunch in the garden. Afternoon shopping tour of the famous designer outlets. Celebration dinner prepared by Joanne and her assistants!

Day Seven

Goodbye breakfast and farewells! Bus will transfer you to the train station in Florence.
